【The Importance of Hypotheses】
In the English Advanced class, students learned how to develop logical thinking skills using the Multiple Hypothesis Method. They practiced this method by moving their analysis from simple observation, to hypotheses, deductions and conclusions.
Starting from simple cases, students later focused on real-world case-solving activities, where they had to think of multiple possible hypotheses, collect evidences, reconsider their original ideas, and reach as they found additional information. Students even had the opportunity to create their own personal mistery cases, some of which were then shared with the rest of the class and solved by students in groups.
By working in groups and sharing their ideas with classmates, students gradually became more confident in discussing about increasingly difficult scenarios in English.
Then, the class switched to the topic of bias and multiple perspective. Students are now learning the difference between objective and subjective information, how to identify biases in multiple scenarios, and how to rewrite the same event/scenario from different characters points of view. This helps students understand that the same event can be interpreted differently depending on perspective, feelings, or background.
