Eligibility

Spring Admission for 1st Grade (Grade 7) Students

(1) Applicant for admission to 1st grade (grade 7) must have turned 12 years old between April 2 of the year previous to enrollment and April 1 of the year of enrollment.
(2) Applicants must fulfill one of the following conditions.

a. Students who are scheduled to graduate from a elementary school in Japan
b. Students who have received an equivalent of the 6-year compulsory education in Japan

Spring & Fall Admission for 1st – 3rd Grade (Grade 7-9) Transfer Students

(1) Applicants must be of their grade level age.
(2) Applicants have come to or returned to Japan within one year.
(3) Applicants have enrolled in schools abroad for more than one year and one day.

Spring & Fall Admission for 4th ・5th Grade (Grade 10・11),
Spring Admission for 6th (Grade 12) Transfer Students

(1) Applicants must be born between the given period.
(2) Applicants have come to or returned to Japan after the given date, and have never been enrolled in schools in Japan after returning.
(3) Applicants have enrolled in schools abroad for more than one year and one day.
(4) Applicants have completed or is scheduled to complete the previous grade level prior to the transfer . Or, the applicant has been recognized by the school principle as having an equivalent academic ability.

Selection Process

Spring Admission for 1st Grade (Grade 7) Students

  1. Documentation Review Review (Statement of Purpose・Official School Transcript ・Extracurricular Records)
  2. Type A (Essays) or Type B (Aptitude Tests) —– Applicants must select A or B at the time of their application.
1. Essays
Two Essays are administered in accordance to the Aims of the Admission Procedures described above.
Foreign Language Essay (45 minutes, full mark 85 points)
Applicants express their ideas and opinions on a given task in a logical way.

* Type A (Essays) consists of Foreign Language Essay and Basic Japanese Language Essay. Available foreign languages are English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese or Korean.
Basic Japanese Language Essay (30 minutes, full mark 15 points)
Applicants express their ideas based on their experiences and knowledge.
2. Aptitude Tests
Aptitude Tests I and II are administered in accordance to the Aims of the Admission Procedures described above.
Aptitude Test I (45 minutes, full mark 50 points)
(1) Aptitude Test I contains 2 questions.
(2) One question determines how well the applicants interpret natural environment issues from different perspectives.
(3) Another question determines how well the applicants apply mathematical concepts to cope with real-world phenomena.
Aptitude Test II (45 minutes, full mark 50 points)
(1) Aptitude Test II contains 1 question.
(2) Aptitude Test II determines how well the applicants identify latent problems through their analysis of the given data/material and express their opinion on a social matter.

Transfer Students Admission

  1. Documentation Review (Statement of Purpose・Official School Transcript・Extracurricular Records)
  2. Essays —– Two Essays are administered in accordance to the Aims of the Admission Procedures described above.

Applicants freely express their ideas and opinions on a given task in a logical way.

Decision Criteria

Decisions will be made according to the scores of Documentation Review, Essays or Aptitude Tests, and Interview.

Score allocation [Total Score : 250points]
Documentation Review 100 points
Essays (Type A) or Aptitude Tests (Type B) 100 points
Interview 50 points

Score allocation for Transfer Students Admission corresponds to that for Type A.
